Supporting Your Library

Published on October 01, 2023

Whether you’re donating books, visiting the Friends of the Library book store or book sale, or just visiting the Library on your weekly visit, there are so many ways to support the library this February and throughout the year!

Friends of the Library Membership
The Friends of the Library is a vibrant and hard-working organization, becoming a member is an investment in the community that supports the library’s youth, teen, and adult programming, allows staff to attend trainings and conferences, and supports creating a new playground at the library. Friends dues are as cheap as $15 for annual individual, $25 annual family, $125 lifetime individual, and $175 lifetime family. You can pick up the membership application at the library!

Book Sales and the Bookstore
Throughout the year you can visit their used bookstore located within the library and purchase gently-used books, movies, magazines, and more. The bookstore is open every day the library is, make sure to stop in regularly to see new and interesting reads!

Every year the Friends of the Library host their Annual Book Sale, an impressive collection of bestsellers, historical collections, movies, video games, children’s materials, puzzles, and other specialty items. If you couldn’t make it this year, look out for the Friends of the Library’s Pop-Up Book Sales throughout the year.

Donations
Now’s the time for spring cleaning, we appreciate and accept new and gently used materials without restriction or obligation. All donated materials are evaluated by library staff and may be placed in the collection or sold by the Friends of the Library in the Bookstore or at the Annual Book Sale. Located in the front lobby of the library are two large blue bins for smaller donations. For larger donations, on Mondays and Fridays between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM, drive around the back of the library to the staff entrance door and a staff member will assist you in unloading your donation. We ask that donations be limited to 3 boxes.

Merchandise
Another way to support the library is through purchasing some of the merchandise the Friends of the Library are selling! They have a beautiful artistic sketch map of Dunedin for only $10, who knows you might find yourself on there! Why ask for plastic, when you can use your own Dunedin Public Library canvas tote bag in a beautiful green trim, this durable, long-lasting bag will help you carry all your items to and from the library for only $15. If you were looking for a reusable bag, you can also purchase those at the Library front desk for only $5.  They come in our favorite color, Library Blue.

Memorial Bricks*
Memorialize a loved one, remember an anniversary, or honor a special person in your life. Our Memorial Bricks are located throughout the Reading Garden and are the perfect way to make a long-lasting impact that will stand the test of time. Each brick is engraved to your specification and cost $100. Visit or call the library to learn more about this special program.

*as a note, our Reading Garden will be undergoing a renovation.  During this time, memorial brick orders can be placed but the bricks will be installed after the renovation is complete.
