The Rain Barrel program is a sustainable initiative to empower residents to collect and reuse rainwater. Free barrels will be provided to residents who sign-up in advance and attend Rain Barrel workshops hosted by UF IFAS.
Some benefits of collecting rainwater include:
- Reduction of potable water usage
- Erosion reduction
- Reduction of storm-water runoff
- Cost savings on your residential water bill
Rain barrel uses can be:
- Irrigation of plants and landscaping
- Bird Baths
- Washing cars
- Cleaning garden tools
Barrels are provided for residents by the City of Dunedin Public Works Department and Coca-Cola Beverages Florida. Workshops are tentatively expected to be held in February, June, and October of each year.
We will keep you informed on workshop registrations when they open.
