Rec Cards, Registration & Policies

Online

To register or pay online the participant must have an up-to-date Household Account. Select youth programs (i.e. camps) must have a valid Child Emergency/Identification Form on file with our office before registering online. Questions? Call 727-812-4530.

In-Person

To register in person, please visit us at the Dunedin Community Center, Hale Senior Activity Center, or MLK, Jr. Recreation Center.

Forms

Some registration forms require a signature in person to participate in a program, class, or event. Forms for participants under the age of 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. A signed Comprehensive Waiver is a form required each year. 

Payment

Program registration must be paid in full at the time of enrollment. Payment may be made in person or online. Payment cannot be taken over the phone. We accept cash, money order, check (payable to City of Dunedin), as well as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

What is a Recreation Card?

Recreation Cards (Rec Cards) are available for residents and non-residents over the age of three. Rec Card holders receive a discount for most programs. Certain programs require the participant to have a valid Rec Card for the entire duration of the activity/program. Children under three may participate by using their parent’s Rec Card. Individuals under 18 years must have their parent or legal guardian present to sign for their Rec Card. Proof of age may be required.

Rec Cards may be purchased at: Dunedin Community Center, Hale Senior Activity Center, or the MLK, Jr. Recreation Center.

Persons who do not possess a Rec Card may register for certain programs by paying the higher fee as indicated in the Parks & Recreation Magazine. Persons residing outside of Pinellas County with a valid photo ID may purchase a Guest Pass for $10 which is good for 30 days from date of issue. This pass allows the card holder to participate in activities (excluding camps) at the Rec Card rate. The Guest Pass must be valid through the end date of the activity/program for which you are registering.

Rec Card Rates

• Resident Rec Card: $10 / year
• Non-Resident Rec Card: $90 / year; $56 / 6 months
• Unincorporated Rec Card (Pinellas County): $56 / year

Determining residency to purchase or renew a Resident Rec Card:  

1. A City of Dunedin resident is as any person who:
   • resides within the city limits (owning or renting on a continual basis), not including unincorporated areas.
   • owns a business within the city limits.
   • Visit the Pinellas County Property Appraiser website and click on “Search Our Database.” Property in Dunedin will show a Tax District of “DN”.
2. To purchase a Resident Rec Card, proof of residency must be provided by presenting a photo ID (FL Driver’s License) and a bill statement containing your name, address and a date that is less than 90 days old upon date of application.

When purchasing a Rec Card, your photo will be taken to be included on the card, therefore you (and your child or any person getting a Rec Card), must be present at the time of purchase.

Free Rec Card for Active U.S. Military and Veterans

Active U.S. Military and Veterans can receive a free Rec Card which entitles the cardholder to pay the discounted fee for classes and programs. In order to receive a free Rec Card, you must show proof of Military/Veteran status and complete a registration form and wavier.

Business Fitness Rec Card

This card allows persons who work in the City of Dunedin or for Pinellas County Government to join the fitness programs at the Dunedin Community Center at the resident rate. The card is valid only for Fitness Center Memberships or Drop-in/Monthly Group Exercise Memberships. Must provide proof of employment. $10 / year

Lost or Stolen Card

Lost or stolen cards should be reported to the Dunedin Community Center by calling 727-812-4530. Upon notice, Rec Cards will be replaced with the same expiration date for a fee of $5.

ADA Accommodation

If you feel you need an accommodation to access any service or program, please call 727-298-3042 or send an email to TSmalling@DunedinFL.net at least seven days prior to the requested participation date for the city's review.

Anti-Discrimination

The City of Dunedin does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, gender identity, expression of sexual orientation or disabled status in employment or the provision of services.

Insurance

While the Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department is committed to the safety of all its participants, the City of Dunedin assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss of personal property while using City facilities or participating in recreation activities. It is recommended that anyone enrolled in a program or using the facilities in general make provisions to provide adequate coverage with his/her own insurance program.

Photo & Video Policy

Frequently, photos and videos are taken of people enjoying City facilities, programs and events. Please be aware that these photos and videos may be used to promote the services and facilities that our City offers and become the City’s sole property. The City of Dunedin and the media may publish these photographs or air these videos in printed publications, cable TV, and online on the City’s website and social media.

Financial Assistance & Scholarships

The Dunedin for Youth Scholarship Fund is available to children and teens of Dunedin whose families cannot afford to register them for summer camps, before & after school programs and other recreational programs. Applications are available at the Dunedin Community Center and the MLK, Jr. Recreation Center, or visit our Camps webpage for more information. 

Inter-Local Agreement for Rec Programs

Patrons who have a valid Rec Card from Oldsmar, Safety Harbor or Tarpon Springs are eligible to enroll in most programs and pay the Dunedin resident rate. There are exclusions, subject to change, which currently include: youth camp programs, facility rentals, marina slip rental fees, boat launching fees and any municipal golf course and/or driving range fees.

Program Changes / Cancellations

Dates, times, and fees are subject to change due to availability of instructors and facility schedules. Programs may be cancelled due to lack of sufficient registration. To confirm schedule, please call the facility which the program is held.

How Do I Request a Refund?

A written request for cancellations and refunds must be received five (5) days prior to the start of the program; ten (10) days for children’s camps or the Before & After School Program. Requests may be submitted in person or emailed to registration@dunedinfl.net.

Refund Policies

• No refunds will be issued after a multi-day program or camp week begins, except for medical reasons, see below.
• No refunds will be issued for one-day programs or trips.
• Rec Cards will not be refunded after two weeks of issue date or if the card has been used. The written request must include the Rec Card.
• If approved, refunds for multi-day classes/program will be issued, minus an administrative fee.
• If approved, summer camp refunds will be issued minus 50% of the camp fee per participant per request.

Medical Exemption

A medical form signed by a doctor stating that the participant is unable to participate for the reminder of the program will entitle the participant to a refund or credit as outlined above.

Dunedin for Youth Scholarship Fund

Dunedin Parks & Recreation provides financial assistance to young children and teenagers of Dunedin who come from families in need of support to enable their children to participate in summer camps and other recreational programs. The assistance is made possible by donations and contributions received from individuals, businesses, and organizations towards The George J. Koutsourais Dunedin for Youth Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund was established in memory of former Mayor/Commissioner Manuel G. Koutsourais’ son through a resolution by the Dunedin City Commission. The Dunedin for Youth Scholarship Fund helps children develop teamwork and life skills, self-confidence and responsibility, healthy lifestyles, perseverance, and friendships.
