Last week, the City of Dunedin welcomed a groundbreaking addition to its transportation landscape: the Freebee Dunedin Loop service. More than just a transportation service, the Freebee Dunedin Loop is a testament to Dunedin's vision for a brighter, greener, and more interconnected future.

The program was launched with the goals of fostering community connectivity, reducing traffic congestion, freeing up limited parking availability, and helping to transform Dunedin into a city where living, working, and playing can be achieved without owning a personal vehicle. Also, by using a 100% electric fleet, this service will not only reduce carbon emissions but also promote environmental sustainability.

The Freebee Dunedin Loop operates four days a week, from Thursday to Sunday, starting at 11 am daily. On Thursday, the service runs until 10 pm; on Friday and Saturday, it operates until midnight. Sundays offer service until 7 pm. These extended hours ensure that the community has access to reliable transportation throughout the weekend during the pilot program.

Using the Freebee Dunedin Loop is a breeze. Passengers can either flag down a vehicle along the route or make use of the Ride Freebee mobile app, which allows real-time tracking and exploration of everything downtown Dunedin has to offer. A dispatch center is available to provide accommodations for those needing extra assistance.

The launch of the Freebee Dunedin Loop is a remarkable testament to Dunedin's proactive stance in shaping a more sustainable and innovative future for its constituents. This dedication ensures that the Dunedin community will enjoy a future with dependable, convenient, cost-effective, and safe mobility options readily available.
