National Safe Boating Week is upon us!

Published on July 04, 2023

May 21 to May 27, 2022, is our National Safe Boating Week, with the kick-off being Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day, Friday, May 20, 2022.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-10, who calls Dunedin home, will be performing free Vessel Exams on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Dunedin Marina. Just look for one of our USCG Auxiliary Members or Staff Officers and be sure to show your support! The Flotilla Commander, Robert Bonnem, and Members of the Flotilla 11-10 Dunedin will be at the City Commission Meeting on May 19, 2022, for the designation of Safe Boating Week being adopted by the City of Dunedin.

Snap a photo of you, your family, even your pet wearing a life jacket and post it on social media; following the information below to win prizes from the Safe Boating Campaign!

"Bring the fun on Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day! No matter your age, this is a great opportunity to share with others your love for boating – and be entered for a chance to win a prize," said Yvonne Pentz, communications director of the National Safe Boating Council, a nonprofit dedicated to helping create a safe boating experience for all boaters and the lead organization of the Safe Boating Campaign.

Here's how to participate:

  • Wear a life jacket wherever you work
  • Snap a picture
  • Post the picture on social media with the hashtag #WearYourLifeJacketAtWorkDay
  • Tag the Safe Boating Campaign (@BoatingCampaign)

Boaters will randomly be selected to win prizes from the Safe Boating Campaign throughout the day.
