Golf Carts in Dunedin

Dunedin provides residents with plenty of streets and crossings to enjoy carting in the community.  Please remember, safety is our #1 concern!

Where can I drive my golf cart within the City limits?

  • Only on roads that have a posted speed of 30 miles per hour or less.
  • Golf carts may only cross State or County roads at such locations that have been specifically designated and sign posted for golf cart crossings.
  • Golf carts are not permitted anywhere on the Pinellas Trail.
  • Golf cart usage is is not permitted on sidewalks, parks, or other portions of City property.

Registration

The City of Dunedin is no longer requiring local registration stickers/fees for golf carts (operating under 20 mph). It is still necessary to adhere to road/street rules and regulations as well as ensure your golf cart is equipped with the required safety features. While local registration is not required, the Pinellas County Sheriff will continue to enforce State golf cart rules and regulations.

New State legislation (HB 949) which went into effect October 1, 2023, prohibits people under the age of 18 from operating golf carts on public roads or streets unless they possess a valid learner’s permit license (accompanied by a licensed adult) or a valid driver license. People who are 18 years old or older must possess a valid form of government-issued photographic identification to operate a golf cart on public roads or streets. Read Florida State Statute/Ordinance for more information.

The City remains committed to golf cart safety and ongoing education, and continues to explore opportunities to expand the existing program through the current Golf Cart Infrastructure Micro-mobility Plan.

****State license and registration is required for Low Speed Vehicles (LSV).
