Effective July 2011, the City Commission adopted an ordinance to allow the operation of golf carts upon designated streets in the City of Dunedin.  A few simple rules must be followed to allow golf cart owners to travel on the street.  View the flyer: Golf Cart Flyer

Golf carts operated on City streets must be registered with the City for such operation.  Registration is made at the Planning & Development Department located at 737 Louden Avenue between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  You do not need an appointment.  Please complete the following application and provide the following items:

a.  Golf Cart Permit Application 2018  You may download, print and complete the application from this link.  A form must be completed every year for renewal.

b.  $10 Annual Registration Fee

c.  Valid Driver License

You will be requested to sign an affidavit (on application form) that will be notarized by the issuing City technician that states the following:

  • You are the owner of the golf cart, if you do not provide the bill of sale.
  • You have liability coverage on the golf cart either as a rider on a homeowner's policy, or a separate vehicle policy.
  • Your golf cart has the following operable equipment from dawn to dusk operation:  efficient brakes, reliable steering, a horn, safe tires, a rearview mirror and red reflectorized warning devices in the front and rear.  For vehicles to be used for dusk to dawn operation there must be the following operable equipment: headlights, brake lights, turn signals and a windshield.
  • You will abide by the rules of the City of Dunedin Golf Cart Operator Manual.

Golf carts registered for general transport in the City will be identified by a numbered decal to be mounted in an obvious place on the rear fender.
