Many times vacations can come with a hefty price tag and a hefty carbon footprint too. When traveling, you can lessen your ecological
footprint by choosing green accommodations. But how do you know if a hotel is really green?

There are several programs available to hotels and lodges to help
them go green. When choosing your travel accommodations, find out if the hotel is participating in these programs and be sure the lodge management knows where you stand when it comes to environmental protection and conservation.

Below, you'll find details of the programs that the hotels within the city are part of, as well as a listing of hotels and lodges that are participating in these programs.

 Champ

The Water Conservation Hotel and Motel Program (Water CHAMP) is managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) and helps hotels and motels save water and money by practicing efficient housekeeping and landscaping practices. The program provides free educational materials and involves a linen and towel reuse program. Learn more about Water CHAMP

 World

Clean the World collects used toiletries including soap and shampoo that are typically discarded from hotels and motels. These materials are sterilized, recycled, and provided to impoverished parts of the world in an effort to prevent deaths from hygiene related illnesses. The non-profit provides collection bins and training materials to participating hotels and motels.  Learn More about Clean the World
