 Electronic devices such as televisions and computers contain heavy metals, gases and chemicals that are hazardous and cannot be disposed of using traditional methods.
Pinellas County provides the NO COST disposal option for residents.

Two FREE disposal options for residents:

  1. Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection - 29582 US Hwy 19 N. South of Curlew Rd on the West side of US 19 (727)464-7500****Site Temporarily closed for construction
    Take your electronics & chemicals to a local collection event, once a month on Saturdays from 9-2. Check the Mobile Collection Schedule for the next collection date and review "What TO Bring and "What NOT to Bring." 
  2. Pinellas County Hazardous Waste Collection Center - 2855 109th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33716 (727) 464-7500
    Take your hazardous waste to Pinellas County Solid Waste HEC3, open Monday through Saturday, for free recycling.

A note on Chemical disposal:
Solid waste does not handle hazardous chemicals of any kind. Operations and facility's are not equipped for processing. It is illegal to dispose of materials in your container and at curbside such as  auto batteries, pool chemicals, toxic or flammable items, and liquid paint. (Paint cans will get crushed and leak onto your streets. Leave lids off latex paint cans to allow the paint to dry out completely, or saturate with newspaper, or kitty litter then place in green garbage container, once cured it is no longer hazardous).

Handling surcharges may apply to residents and customers found mixing unacceptable materials or electronics with their solid waste.


*The Solid Waste Division insures that appliances containing ozone depleting gases, like Freon, are recovered and recycled properly.

Curbside customers (bill paid directly to the City) can contact Solid Waste to schedule large appliance curbside pick up.

  • Your City of Dunedin Utility Bill will be charged a $18.35 fee per item for special handling*.
  • Place at curb, leave 6 feet of space between the appliance and your garbage container and any other fixed obstructions (cars, mailboxes, etc.)
  •  Please contact the Solid Waste Division (727)-298-3215 OR to schedule a special pick.

Multi-family collection (bill paid to association) of large appliances (along with other bulky items) must be routed through approval of the community's HOA, management company, or representative of the utility account. Electronic collections not provided in multi-family from communities or mobile home parks.

Batteries: Residents can drop-off cell phones and SMALL (cell phone size) rechargeable batteries at the Solid Waste Division- 1070 Virginia Street, Dunedin, Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM.

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), Small Sealed Lead (PB)

***Alkaline batteries, such as AA, AAA, C & D no longer contain mercury and are safe for regular garbage
