Sustainability is meeting the needs of today's generation without compromising the needs of tomorrow's generation.  Sustainability works to address three areas of concern: the environment, economy, and society.

The City of Dunedin is committed to sustainability of local government practices and has made strides to lessen the environmental impacts of its operations. 

Is Sustainability the Same Thing as "Green"?

Green practices generally address the environment.

While sustainability also addresses environmental issues such as conservation and stewardship, it looks at the bigger picture to consider issues of social equality and economic prosperity.
