SAND BAG DISTRIBUTION                                                                             Surviving the Storm

If the City of Dunedin declares a weather-related emergency, the following sandbag distribution program will become effective.  Under non-emergency conditions, citizens must purchase their own sandbags.  Sandbags are available at local Home Depot and Lowe's Home Improvement Stores.

Declared Emergency - Sandbag Distribution Locations
In the event of a declared emergency, sandbags and sand will be staged and distributed at the following location.  For further information regarding these sites please call the Stormwater Utility Section at 727-298-3232 or e-mail the Director of Public Services, Arlie Anderson.

Calling any of the sites listed below will not get you any information regarding this program!

Site # 1- Highlander Park, just west of the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
Site # 2- Hale Activity Center, north end of the building.
Site # 3 - Jerry Lake Soccer Complex.  From Keene Road/CR 1 turn east on Virginia Street, make the first left from SR 580, turn west on Virginia Street, make the second right.

Sand and Sandbags
Public Services staff will deposit approximately thirty (30) cubic yards of sand and 2,000 - 4,000 empty sandbags at the locations listed. Shovels will be provided at each site.

On Site Assistance
Public Services staff and volunteer assistants will monitor each location.

Staff will monitor traffic at the site and will answer any questions regarding the program.  Residents will be required to show proof of residency at the site.  Requests for additional sandbags or door-to-door service for the disabled will not be handled at the distribution site.  These requests must be called in to the Stormwater Utility Section at 727-298-3232 Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Limits of Service
In order to ensure that all of the citizens in need are provided sandbags, there will be a limit of twenty (20) sandbags per household.  Request for more sandbags will require a site visit by Stormwater Utility Staff, but it does not guarantee that more bags will be distributed.
