Our Mission Statement
The Public Services Division provides for the health, safety, and welfare of the community through the management of City streets, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, and facility buildings. Public Services oversees the Facility Maintenance, Streets, and Stormwater sectors of the City.
Facility Maintenance staff are responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and renovations of thirty-one City buildings and structures. Key areas of interest are facility roofs and air conditioning equipment. This Section has recently adopted "green" housekeeping practices in our contractual custodial maintenance operations as part of the City's commitment to sustainability.
Stormwater staff maintain and construct our municipal stormwater conveyance and treatment systems including pipes, catch basins, swales, ditches, and ponds. Street sweeping, mowing of public right-of-ways, and aquatic weed control are performed as part of requirements under our NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit.
Street operations include the maintenance and construction of 31 miles of sidewalk, 130 miles of asphalt, brick, and concrete paved streets as well as coinciding curbing, 32 signalized intersections and approximately 3,500 street lights. Signage and pavement markings are administered by this team of professionals.
