Building plan review is best described as a technical review of construction drawings and specifications for new structures or proposed modifications or improvements to existing structures, including additions, repairs and renovations to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Florida Building Codes and other applicable regulations, codes or ordinances prior to permit issuance.
Permits for most work performed on one and two-family residences go through the building code compliance plan review process. Permits for work performed on multi-family and commercial buildings and structures go through the building code compliance plan review process as well as review by the Fire Department for fire prevention and life safety code compliance.
Our average plan review time for residential permits is 3-5 business days and 5-8 business days for commercial/non-residential permits.
