Tucked away on a quiet, oak-lined street, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center is the best kept secret in Dunedin. Former Mayor, John Doglione, stated that this Center had "come from neighborhood action - neighbors helping neighbors, and neighbors joining together to make our city better." We'd love to have you become part of our community and check us out!
Primarily a youth and teen based facility, the Center offers unique programming for tweens and teens including Midnite Madness, R.A.P Night, Teen Night Live and The Happening with the goal of providing a safe, positive environment to "hang out." The Center also offers recreational programs all ages including Okinawan Karate and Self Defense.
The Youth Advisory Committee addresses issues affecting youth and teens of our community. Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm at the MLK Center. Meetings are open to the public.
We take pride in our indoor regulation size hardwood basketball court. The gym features six hoops that can be retracted when needed, four of which can be lowered to a super low height of 7'6" for those future NBA players. Our gym also provides bleachers for spectators to watch activities like our basketball leagues or sports tournaments.
