Affordable Housing Partnerships

The City of Dunedin works in partnership with the Pinellas County Department of Community Development and the Dunedin Housing Authority to assist residents with their housing needs.  Our goal is to offer quality affordable housing opportunities to a variety of individuals and families that otherwise would not be able to achieve home ownership.

The Dunedin Housing Authority (DHA) is a quasi-governmental entity and a political subdivision of the State of Florida. It has an independent and autonomous Board of Commissioners, which is appointed by the City of Dunedin Commissioners.

Housing Project(s)

Eco Village Townhomes

The Dunedin Housing Authority has partnered with Pinellas Community Development and the City of Dunedin to construct up to 25 affordable townhomes on a former public housing site. Construction is complete on building 1 and development is nearing completion on building 2.  Site clearing activities and preparation for construction has begun on lot 3. Infrastructure review is complete, and there has been good interest in these townhomes with several deposits received.

  Eco Village 01

The mixed-income development, known as Eco Village Dunedin, is being built on the 2.95 acre parcel located on the northeast and southeast corners of Douglas Avenue and Lorraine Leland Street.  Planet Green Group, a Largo development firm, was chosen to build and sell the townhomes, which will vary in size from 1,100 to 1,500 square feet.  They are not public housing units, and no government subsidy will be available.  The sale price will range from the mid $160,000 to mid $200,000, depending on upgrades and finishes.

Planners hope the project, intended for moderate income buyers, will breathe new life into the neighborhood south of Dunedin's Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, and spur other development throughout the area.

Donation of 442 3rd Avenue to Habitat for Humanity

The City had outstanding code violations against the former property owner of 442 3rd Avenue and the property owner decided to settle his liens by conveying the land to the City of Dunedin. With the City as title owner of the property, the substandard house was demolished and the property was donated to Habitat for Humanity for affordable housing.
