On January 22, 2019, the City Commission directed staff to move forward with term limits as follows:

· Two 3-year term limits (the Local Planning Agency and the Board of Adjustment and Appeal will be revised to 3-year terms), for a total of six consecutive years for boards and committees

· One additional term will be granted for anyone who would otherwise be termed out (meaning anyone who has already served two or more full terms)

· If the Commission is for whatever reason unable to fill a board member vacancy with a new board member, it may waive the term limit restriction and reappoint the board member vacating the position for one additional term

· After one year off the board, any member can reapply to join the board

*Term limits do not apply to Alternate members, nor are partial terms. Ordinances and Resolutions will be brought to the City Commission in March and April as public hearings, with final readings scheduled for April 18, 2019. Questions regarding term limits can be emailed to Lael Giebel at

One of the most significant facets of City government involves boards & committees.
The City of Dunedin currently oversees 30+ active boards, committees, agencies and authorities as part of their dedication to serve our community. We are most fortunate to have the expertise and knowledge offered by members of these boards & committees to provide essential input that aids the City Commission in making decisions for the needs of the city.

The City Clerk's office is continually seeking applications from qualified citizens interested in serving on any of the City's 30+ active boards/committees/agencies/authorities. This is to provide citizens with insight as to each board/committee's function and purpose in an effort to generate interest and participation.

(Please note residency requirements vary with each board or committee; members cannot be employees of the City;  and cannot be serving on more than two boards/committees concurrently.)
