Position: Lifeguard #T42009-Various

Persons eligible to apply:  All who meet the minimum qualifications

Department/Division:  Parks & Recreation / Recreation

Status:  Variable on Demand             

Number of Hours: 20-40 hours per week

Starting Salary: $10.2074- GR9



Under supervision, ensures pool patron safety through the provision of effective lifeguarding services in accordance with all City policies, procedures and safety regulations. Assists with the operation of the spray ground. Reports to the Recreation Program Coordinator.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Requires certification in Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for Lifeguards.


  • Requires basic swimming skills and rescue techniques.


  • Must be at least 16 years of age.


  • Water Fitness Instructor preferred


  • Ability to exert very heavy physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of persons, objects and materials of heavy weight (up to 100 pounds).  Requires the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various swimming and other physical skills.  Requires the ability to move persons of varying weight from the water to dry land and to perform CPR/First Aid in rescue operations.
